The Upper Town and the Citadel
The upper town of Bonifacio is a veritable open-air museum! The cliff-top town reveals an atmosphere steeped in history as you stroll along its picturesque lanes: the drawbridge of the Genoa Gate, the Bastion de l'Étendard, the Chemin de Ronde, the thousand-year-old fortress, the many churches, the marine cemetery... As well as offering breathtaking views of the sea, the upper town is awe-inspiring with its tall white houses towering over 60m above the cliffs. The most courageous can climb the 187 steps of the King of Aragon's Staircase to the foot of the cliffs...

Sea caves
Another must-do during your stopover in Bonifacio is a sea excursion to discover the marine caves of the Bouches de Bonifacio International Marine Park, which stretches over 80,000 hectares between Corsica and Sardinia.

The archipelago of the Iles Lavezzi is a nature reserve that looks like a wild paradise, located to the south of Bonifacio.
